Just like Rohit, there are many sports person as well as sport enthusiasts who can hurt their shoulder even in everyday activities. The right treatment at the right time can bring a lot of difference in the recovery of a person. Let us first try and understand the different types of Shoulder Injuries -
1. Rotator Cuff Tear
This kind of injury is mainly caused because of lifting heavy weights or objects regularly. Mainly weight lifting athletes suffer through this.
2. Fractures
One of the most common shoulder injuries are considered to be fractures. They are caused because of a direct hit to the shoulder area because of a collision or a fall.
3. Shoulder Dislocation
In this, the upper arm bone pops out of the cut-shaped socket of the shoulder. As the shoulder joint is immobile, it is more prone to dislocate.
4. Impingement Syndrome
It is a medical disorder marked by severe discomfort and bulge of the rotator cuff tendons and the nearby bursa, additionally known as Rotator Cuff Tendinitis.
While every injury and every individual is different, the treatment can be either one or a combination of the following:
1. Shoulder Replacement Surgery
When the pain in the shoulder joint doesn't allow performing daily tasks, and other therapies are ineffective, this procedure, also known as shoulder arthroplasty, is a possibility. During a shoulder replacement procedure, the surgeon often replaces or caps the broken ends of the scapula and humerus bone that make up the shoulder joint before cementing the replacement parts in place.
2. Shoulder Arthroscopy
Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical technique used to identify and address any joint abnormalities or injuries. A monitor coupled to the camera allows the doctor to view the inner of the joint through the arthroscope, which is a narrow tubular construction with a camera and light attached to one end. This enables the surgeon to identify the kind of joint wound and select the best course of action for healing.
